Подход к оценке бизнеса, при котором в качестве критерия используется не бухгалтерская прибыль, а экономическая прибыль (см.). Точно так же, как модель дисконтированного денежного потока может использоваться и для оценки акций (дисконтирование дивиденда), и для оценки капиталов (свободный денежный поток фирмы), так и модель экономической прибыли может применяться либо к акции (остаточный доход), либо к капиталу (часто к EVATM, добавленной экономической стоимости). Модель экономической прибыли исходит из того, что стоимость является балансовой статьей (то, что затрачено на приобретение актива) плюс или минус поправки на тот факт, что актив дает доход больший или меньший того, что ожидалось.
